Making everyone happy

Making everyone happy

How do you deal with making everyone else happy, and totally giving up on your dream location, because with a higher number of guests, it is way more than you can afford???

For me it's not about making everyone happy but I am pretty sure I'm going to have to give up on my dream location because my family is just so large. I couldn't imagine getting married without everyone there though so cutting the list isn't an option. Just have to come up with a new dream. The most important thing is marrying the man of your dreams. At least that's what makes me feel better.

You will never make everyone happy

You can't make everyone happy, so I've given up on that. If people aren't happy with how I plan my wedding, they can decline the invite. I don't care.

You can't make everyone happy nor should you try. You'll drive yoruself crazy, and this will become and awful experience. Focus on your and FH's happiness. That's all that matters in this situation.

It's pretty much YOUR wedding. People will always complain whether you had a big or small wedding and invited everyone or ten people.

So I shouldn't feel bad If I only want 150 guests??? 75 for me and 75 for the groom? How should I express it to his mother...Because other than this, I love her, like this is making me confused...I have a dream location in mind and it is doable only if we have 150 people and I like that size...I feel like no one has asked what do I want??? Is that wrong of me???

150 people not 10

If 75 and 75 is enough for close family and friends and FMIL wants more because she wants distant family or HER friends than you need to explain that you have A budget and unless she's willing to chip in for the extra people (unless she already is) then you need to cut the list down.
I'm not totally sure of your situation but it sounds like this is what you're getting at

Both mine and FHs parents are contributing to the cost of the wedding, but that doesn't automatically give them free reign to invite whoever they want. I told my mom (who is trying to invite every shmoe she ever met) that family comes first, then our friends, and if there is room left in the budget, she can invite one table of friends. I'm not allowing this to become a circus just because my mom doesn't want to insult anyone.

Just explain to FMIL that you've been dreaming of your wedding day since you were a little girl, and while you appreciate her wanting to share this celebration with her friends, you are trying to keep the guest list to a minimum for financial reasons and because you want it to be extremely intimate.

I do have to say thankfully it was all a misunderstanding...It looks as though we may just be able to have the wedding of our dreams!!! :)
