what little things are you doing to personalize your wedding? To make you wedding different from the next brides? DF and I want to have a fun wedding but everything seems so serious. We are having a Sunday afternoon wedding not a Saturday night one, but everyone keeps pushing to make it 'fancy'. And Im not a fancy kinda girl. I think this is stressing me out more than anything else, trying to find a balance between fun and elegant.

I get ya completely. We're trying to have a more relaxed Wedding. Rustic yet classy and there's a lot of pressure to go formal with everything. From invites/envelopes to dresses most 'wedding' things out there are a degree more formal than im looking for.
What we've really just focused on is sticking to our vision. As long as the ideas, favors, colors, decor etc all mesh with our theme and 'look' then we are happy. It doesn't have to be the fancy formal standard in weddings, just has to match our look. We have casual invited with Kraft envelopes. A lot of DIY decor And fun colors. Over all I think it will come across to our guests that we mean this to be a less formal occasion although still wonderful and classy!

I struggled with this also, and it's hard to balance having it feel like a wedding with making it fun and a little less fancy. I agree that you just need to pick a theme and a feeling and stick with it. We made our own invites and had various fun things at the wedding. A few things we did: -I think our ceremony music set the fun tone from the start. We used Vitamin String Quartet songs - I walked down the aisle to MMMBop.
-While we had beautiful floral centerpieces, we also spread trivial pursuit cards around the tables. It's one of our favorite games, and we thought guests could use them as ice breakers or for dance breaks.
-Our wedding was Star Wars themed, but we still tried to keep it weddingish (if that makes sense). Our invites used star wars fonts and had Princess Leia and Han Solo silhouettes on them, but they were purple and orange (our colors) and still looked like a wedding invite.
-We had lightsaber toys at every table, but no over the top costumes - still wedding gowns and tuxes. People loved the lightsabers. Everyone had the on the dance floor and we're playing with them.
Also, it helps to get your family or whoever is helping with the wedding is on board. My family understood my vision from the start and were great sounding boards for ideas. I think it took my MIL a little longer to get the idea of a super formal party out of her head, but in the end she definitely got it, because the lightsaber toys were all her.

I am still figuring out my style for the wedding. I don't really have a theme or a vision per se. I just want it to be elegant but fun. I want our quirky personalities to come across, even if not everyone will 'get it.' So, having comfort food instead of the classic Italian fare at most of my family gatherings is where we started to try and make it ours. We lived in TX and love BBQ...so, there had to be mac & cheese and ribs. I'm writing our ceremony and we're writing our own vows. So, that should be interesting, lol. We're going to do a whiskey ceremony instead of a unity candle or sand so that we can age our own little barrel of whiskey and open it on our 1yr wedding anniversary. We're both into food, wine and cigars. So, we're going to incorporate that into the favors and it will probably factor into what we do for our respective bachelor/ette parties. In the end, as long as everyone has a good time, I will be super happy.

That sounds like an amazing wedding!

Our wedding is one wedding at a time, so we can decorate the foyer and the fireplaces with lots of picture frames and make it look intimate and like home. We are not doing floral centerpieces, no uplighting, just lots of candles. We prefer keeping things simple, and no matter how much our family convinces us to get certain upgrades, we are not compromising with our vision. I visited the Three Village Inn when we were looking for venues, and I love the rustic and quaint vibe it has. I think you should go with what you and FH feel most comfortable with since it is your big day, but try to get your families on board too. My mom has always had this idea of a formal wedding in her head, but when I show her pictures on Pinterest or lay out what my idea is, she usually likes them and goes along.
