Making my music spreadsheet, Questions..

Hi! So I am finally making my music spreadsheet for the DJ. The music is the only thing I am being a complete control freak over

So my question is, for the processional, how many minutes of music do you typically need? I kinda want to start with me least fav songs first and work my way up to one I will walk down the aisle to!

I know the cocktail is an hours worth...

and then for the reception im gonna start it out with more upbeat songs but not dancy , and then Im gonna choose a song that noone can not dance to , to get everyone on the floor.

Any advice?

It really depends how many girls you have in your bridal party and how long the aisle is for the processional. My aisle was not very long so it was a shorter song then say someone with a very long aisle. Best suggestion, go on youtube.com and look up weddings. You might be able to time how long walking down the aisle is and have a better idea. It's just too many factors (bridal party, length, pace everyone walks) to really tell you how much music will be played.

For the reception, it depends on your crowd. On dancefloor was the most packed during the 60s music and then for the 90s old school music. Start with the majority of what people like as guests and then go from there.

I'm not all too helpful but I hope this helps a little!

Great Idea! The song I have picked out for everyone to walk out to is 3.5 minutes, but I think there is about 20 minutes while guest arrive and sit? I am starting to regret not getting a DOC

I'm doing something very similar to you. My FH is a musician in a band so he wanted to have full control of what the Dj played. So what we are doing is creating the song list for the ceremony, than an hours worth of cocktail hour music. Than for the reception we have made a spreadsheet with all the songs by genre that should be played at the reception. Example, 60's, 70's/Disco, 80's etc.

Basically the DJ is to go by the list and remix it the way he chooses but he is not to go off the list. We figure its easy for him if its sectioned by genre of music.

I only picked out the the BP processional song, my song and the recessional song. So combined its no more than 6 minutes of music. I picked actual songs so of course the BP processional song will be faded out as soon as all the BP is down the aisle and than my song comes on. Than the recessional song only plays till the end while people make their way into cocktail hour.
