making own grooms cake?

making own grooms cake?

does this sound like a suicide mission? my RD is a whole week before the wedding and since we bought the house, we have $0.

still wanted to do a groom's cake though. FH is a musician, so i was thinking of trying to make my own guitar and drum cake

thoughts?

they sell this pan at michaels

and then i could do drums like this all on a platter:

obviously not a birthday cake look - would put something like our names and wedding date on the drum

I wouldn't even THINK to try this LOL but that's b/c my baking skills are basically nil LOL

If you like to bake then I say go for it b/c I think it's super sweet to do something like that for him.

def practice before the RD tho - i bought one of those cupcake cake pans and thought it would be so cute and the first time i made it, it was sooooo ugly

Why don't you buy the pan and do a test run to see how it comes out? If it looks terrible than just dump it and no one needs to know - if it looks good then do it again for the RD. I think it will mean even more to him if it something home made from his wife to be
