Anyone do this? Is it difficult? Time consuming? I am thinking about doing this, since it seems much more healthy and possibly cheaper.
Any advice or books to look into would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: making your own babyfood?
I do this...in the beginning I made 80% of her food. Now I make 50%. I found it to be easy and not time consuming at all. I used the Super Baby Food Book. I did save a lot of money doing this also.

Michele, would you recommend it? Now that you are down to 50% does that mean the other 50% is from jar food? Or is she on to table food now? I am pretty clueless with the whole feeding part of being a mommy. Thanks!

Don't stress it. It's much easier than you think. I was confussed at first also, but when you do it it's not as hard as you thought. The Super Baby Food book is good. The author is very organic & she can be a bit out there for my taste. It does have a good guide on all the foods & when you can give them. I do buy the organic fruits & veggies from Whole Foods. Basicaly I do it all the same way. Peel, chop & steam. When it's done I throw it all in a food processor add some of the water from steaming to sthin it out. Then just freeze it. If you have any questions just FM Good Luck!

No...I love the book and making Molly's food. I am down because some of the fruits are out of season...and I never made her berries. I would buy Blueberry Apple or Plum Apple. She also eats a lot more food now and for variety I buy some too. With working full time and getting busy with the holidays I don't always have time to make such a large variety of foods for her. Molly is not a big fan of real table food yet. She has no teeth, if you can believe that, so that could be part of that.
I make Cantaloupe, pears, squash of all kinds, puree lentils, chicken soup in the processor, avocado (her favorite), sweet pototoes and lots more. But when I travel I bring jar foods since I cannot keep the cubes frozen in the car long enough. And I don't make my own yogurt to save a few bucks. I buy Stonyfield organic ones for her.
(Read all baby food labels too. Some have SUGAR added and IMO there is no reason for that).

Yes, the sugar and sodium is what really concerns me, which is why I am going to try to make my own food. I will look into the book and try it. I'll let you know how it goes.

A lot of people use the ice cube method. Also I One step ahead has a covered tray that's portioned out. I use Glad ware mini rounds. They feeze well & you can defrost & they travel well & you have a small bowl.
