Does it really matter? I guess I am just used to men being the officiant or preist, etc.

I don't think it really matters. It's just a personal choice!

At first, my FH had a huge problem with being married by a woman (don't take offense it was just one of those silly hang-ups, he's not like sexist or anything).....but after realizing that we wouldn't really get the ceremony we wanted (very non-religious but not as sterile as a civil ceremony) unless we did get a woman officiant, he very quickly changed his mind. Durring my search for an officiant I found that most men are more religious based while the women tend to be more spiritual and more open to different traditions. I mean, there may be a great man out there who does what we're looking for but I just couldn't find one.
....so no, I don't think it matters at all.

I am so glad somebody posted this! FH and I were talking about it and both wanted the ceremony to be as 'traditional' as possible without it being religious and didn't think a woman 'fit the role.' After doing some research a woman seems to be a good choice, but we just don't know if we want it that way. I know we are probably just being ridiculous..I guess it's just a mental block!

I know!! its crazy right. My FH said the only reason im having a hard time with it is because I watch to much TV hehehehe. I am just sooo used to a male figure performing the ceremony. But hey a female could do just the say and possibly better. I just dont know what to do

Go with your gut. When you meet the right officiant, you'll know! Good luck!

If you read some of the reviews and testamonials on April from the Church of Ancient Ways (LIW Vendor) or Rev. Deb Viola (also an, LIW vendor) I can guarantee you will definetly be 'un-blocked'. haha. They apparently do very emotional, very personal ceremonies. I cry sometimes just reading the things people have to say about their ceremonies.
