Mama Mia!

Mama Mia!

I went to see it last night. My friend's boss couldn't use his tickets so he gave them to her. We went for free! And had decent seats and the musical was amazing!! I was amazed that they were able to build this storyline around all the songs and yet the story made sense and the songs all made sense in whatever scene they were sung in. And the ending - after they all bowed? AWESOME. This older man (in his 70's!) - a business man - was dancing around in front of his chair (we all got up at that point) and it was too cute.
The character of Donna (the mother) was played by the understudy but man what a voice!!! I wonder if she's that good the main actress must be out of this world.
I highly recommend you see this if you haven't. FH was a bit jealous but I said I'd gladly go see it again this summer.

ps: If you go DO NOT eat at Ellen's Stardust Diner next door on Broadway. It's cute but I've eaten there a few times and every time I end up not feeling great.

Re: Mama Mia!

I am glad you enjoyed it.

Before we went to see it I was curious about how they created a cohesive story around all the songs. It was pretty cool how it all worked out and I loved the encore at the end! DH wasn't even an Abba fan and now he listens to the sound track all the time.

The regular lead is spectacular!!! When ever I go to a show I always end up with an understudy for one of the lead roles.
