Re: Mamma Lombardi's
One of my favorite restaurants : ) I was just there on Sunday.
It is not too dressy. I usually just wear pants and a top. DH wears dockers. There are people in jeans and also in suits there so anything goes....
They don't take reservations. One of the major downers of the place. For a saturday be prepared to wait over an hour unless you go at an off time. They have a decent size bar to wait in though.
Prices...I don't think they too expensive....with app...entree...dessert and a glass of wine....about $50 a head.
Enjoy!!!!

Thanks Ladies
Might have to pick somewhere else, Brandon is 10 and is not great at waiting for a table. We were going to go there for my bday, but if anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to make a suggestion. Preferably Italian

Re: Mamma Lombardi's
Michelle, if you're looking for Italian there's a great place called Vinnie's Mulberry Street on Howell's Road in Bay Shore just north of Sunrise. Probably not more than 20 minutes from you. It's very small but I've been there several times during 'peak' hours and never waited more than 10 minutes. I'm not sure a lot of people know about it. The food is delicious and the prices reasonable.

Re: Mamma Lombardi's
Saviano's is awesome, not as good as Mamma Lombardi's but my second choice for dinner. They is not as much as a wait, and the prices are a little bit lower.

But Mamma Lombardi's is worth every second of the wait.

Re: Mamma Lombardi's
Growing up this was my favorite restaurant...I now live pretty far from there but boy do I remember that place. I first went there with my parents when it was this cute little restaurant across the street with no catering hall or long lines.
I have not been back in probably about 15 years

Re: Mamma Lombardi's
If you go on the early side, 5:30 or 6:00 you'll probably find less of a wait. Give them a call and ask what time they recommend you arrive on a Saturday to avoid a wait - they should have a pretty good idea of the norm.
I don't think we've ever waited more than 20 minutes for a table, though I honestly can't recall what times or days we were there.
As a second choice, I'll also say Saviano's is very nice - we live nearby and go there regularly.

Re: Mamma Lombardi's
If you go early you might beat the crowds...like at 5 or 6.
Saviano's is really good too as the girls have said but my second favorite Italian restaurant is Villas Sorrento's in Smithown on Rt 25. Its awesome and very cute and cozy inside. Prices are all about the same.

Re: Mamma Lombardi's
I second Mama's on Main Street...it's in a little shopping center right across the street from the Sunoco gas station (where the Holbrook Bagel store is). I love it there...very casual, great food. Whenever I come home to LI...I always try to go there.
