Man of honor

Man of honor

Has anyone asked or is anyone planning to ask their brother to be their man of honor? How did you ask? I would like to ask in a special way but nothing too big or cheesy.

i asked my brother to be my man of honor...and he told me no thats gay, gotta love a 19 year old kid.

I told him that it was the most important part to the bride in the wedding and him being my only 'real' siblings, we have a half sister but weren't raised together, that it would mean alot to me to have him standing next to me that day and his response was above!

My best friend from college will be my Man of Honor!! He doesn't know it yet :). He lives in Pittsburgh so I am going to mail him the movie with Patrick dempsy as a joke !! (he's gay and loves Patrick dempsy). So that's how I am going to do it since I won't see him for a while.

Is yours a brother or a friend!?

My brother ...yeesh, I'd be upset if he reacted by saying no!

Re: Man of honor

My fiance and I are doing a very non-traditional wedding party because we wanted our friends closest to us to be in the party and we wanted to be authentic. We don't think it's genuine to have even numbers and guys on his side and girls on mine because of tradition or for photos.

He is having two- three people on his side- all women (a Best Maid and one to two Groomswomen). I am having four women and a man. My sister who lives far away will be my Maid of Honor and my close friend who lives nearby will be my Matron of Honor, and I will have two Bridesmaids and one Bridesman. We will have two flower girls and a ring bearer.

These days weddings can be exactly what you want! I love the ceremony of tradition, but sometimes you have to buck it and make your own traditions! This is the moment where you should have the person/ people you want most at your side, whatever their gender!

Would any church not allow this? Just want you to think of that before making your plans.

Re: Man of honor

I've never heard of a church not allowing it, not sure why they wouldn't, either......a maid/man of honor or best man/woman is there to serve as your witness....not sure why the sex of the person would matter to the church. I'll double check just to make sure
