My coworker just went to Dos Caminos for V=day and she was raving about it.
Rosa Mexicano in Union Square is also really wonderful. So nice inside and the food is amazing. their website

Carmines has 2 locations in manhattan...one uptown, I think on the west side and the other in times square...
They do family style dinners though, so they are better if you have a group going. The food is good though!.

on the UES: Vespa is good for italian. Zocalo is great for mexican.
Last year for my birthday we went to Mercadito in the east village - delicious but a bit of a trek.
if you want fancy and a new hot spot, I just had dinner last night at Anthos - it's greek/mediterranean.

UVA is awesome on the Upper East Side. Love it. Cafe' D'Alsace on the UES. The Lenox Room closed and it's now a steakhouse called TBAR. Very good, very expensive. Orsay on the UES is very good French Food..... (this is my neighborhood where I live!)
