I got my new social security card via mail, and my next stop is the DMV (UGH)
I work in Manhattan so I would like to do it first thing in the morning, and I see that there are two DMVs, one is a regular DMV and the other one is a DMV Xpress (which doesn't have very bad reviews). Does anyone know if I can go to the DMV XPress for the name change? If I can't get an answer here I will give them a ring.

Yup, you can go to the DMV Express on 34th Street...I just did it the other day and it was really easy. You need to bring your current license and your marriage certificate, and they need to take a new photo since you're changing your name. They will give you a temporary license and mail you the new one.

Yup the express DMV is the best thing invented! Since you don't need a new picture taken or anything you should be able to get in and out relatively quickly :)

They made me take a new photo because it was a name change, even though my current one was only a year old (which was a drag because I actually liked it!). But it still took only a few minutes - this place is the best!

I REALLLLLLY need a new picture. The one I have now is from when I got my permit when I was 16 LOL.... I'd like to think I look the same but I really don't. Plus I'm sick of getting smirks from people when they see my cool hairdo from High School!!

lol same here! and I never updated the height either. I'm no giant, but I'm taller now and I wear heels alot, so when I go to the bars they give me such problems with the height thing, lol.

Best experience at a DMV ever!! I was on like by 8:15am, doors opened at 830am, and I was out the door on my way to work at 8:59am!!
