My wedding venue suggested having a manifesto instead of placecards. This means that they would have 2 butlers welcoming guests to my wedding, requesting their names, and then telling them their table numbers.
I've never heard of this before, and while it seems very elegant, I'm worried that people would forget where they are sitting!
Has anyone ever been to a wedding that had this before?

i've seen this before. it's actually very common at asian weddings. It usually works out well. and I think it sounds very elegant with the butlers. HTH.

one of the RH's that I was checking out offered this, and it sounded great to me! very elegant and sets this high end restaurant vibe to the wedding. they said tho that the maitre d will escort the guests to their sitting place, does ur RH offer that?

My RH does this, so this is what FH & I will have. They host affairs of up to 600 people with this method, and we're having about 300- soo I'm hoping that they have this down pat. If not, they said there are people around to tell them where they are sitting. =)

I think it sounds very elegant also...my only concern would be ppl lined up in a long line waiting. Before I agreed to it I would ask how that would be avoided...one advantage with place cards is that guests can usually pick them up during CH at their leisure, and there usually isn't a wait to get them.

Honestly, I know someone who went to a wedding recently and they did this because she mentioned how cheap it was that they 'didn't even use placecards' whereas it probably had nothing to do with that, it was misread. I would go with your gut but know that it could be read incorrectly.

I've never heard of that--but I love it. What a nice and different way to be seated. Also, if your a little worried have a copy of the seating chart on hand with a bridemaid or someone just in case.

I think that sounds very elegant and not cheap at all!! It sounds like something you would see at a dinner at a mansion or something!
