Mansion help!

We're getting married at the Bourne, so I'm biased, but I love it! I heard the same things about the acoustics, but I think without the organ and we're working with Bravura (who does have a separate sound tech mf323 :) ), so I'm not too worried anymore. If anything, the sound can get a little loud, but Steve the maitre d will have them turn it down...I'll let you know how it all plays out next month! Also, just to play devil's advocate in terms of space, if you want a dance floor, I would say 250 is pushing it! They say they can accomodate 300, but that is with a tiny dance floor and using the sunroom for seating. We're at 250 (both from huge families...hopefully more people will say no eeek), and I'm worried it is going to be cramped. Having compulsively counted chairs in the ballroom, I would say 150-200 would be perfect for Bourne.

My friend got married at de Severksy and LOVED it. They had the ceremony there and it was gorgeous!! She was really happy with the outcome and her pics are gorgeous.

I've been to an event at Douglaston Manor, and it was great too. The place is gorgeous, and the Spanish architecture made me feel like I was home in CA. We didn't look here just because I really wanted a one event at a time place, but if that's not an issue, it is gorgeous (and I think fairly reasonable).

My photographer also did a wedding at Chelsea Mansion. Not sure where it is or details, but it looked stunning!

We booked Bourne a year and a half ago, and from what I've heard pricing has gone way up, but my advice for anywhere is haggle! My fiance is Greek and shamelessly negotiates. I was humiliated lol, but he got us a good price.

We looked at Bourne, and it was 195++ a head. we did get them down to 185++ though. The ballroom was amazing, and they have different floor layouts depending on how many guests you have. I have heard it gets loud in there. We ended up going against it because it was lacking landscaping (I mean, the grass is beautiful but we wanted more flowers/plants/scenery). Also, with cocktail hour you don't have a seat for everyone, and we've been to weddings where we had to stand and try and juggle drinks and food and it's just so uncomfortable. It's beautiful though, don't get me wrong, but just think about those things before booking!
