is 7 days there too much? we are going to tabacon for 2, xandari for 2 before flying back. we can go for longer - 2 more days if we could figure out where else to go. i would like to go to a beach type place - was thinking tamarindo until alina said it wasn't all that great.

Alina has been to Tamarindo much more recently than I, but I remember it as a pretty relaxing, beachy place. I stayed at the Hotel el Jardin del Eden - it was years ago, and i still remember the great food. I was working in Costa Rica at the time, and Tamarindo was a lovely break.
One other popular place you could consider is Monteverde - there are some nice, easy walks in the cloud forest. It didn't blow me away, but I do remember liking it - and when do we ever get to walk in a literal forest in the clouds?!
7 days in Manuel Antonio might be a bit long, but I am not certain.
