the rumor that was on the radio this morning was that he has been involved in New York City Theatre, is gay and is involved with someone older and prominant in the industry - neither of them wanted that to get out and become news worthy... so he dropped out.

like i said - have no idea how true it is or anything - just what i heard on the radio during my drive to work

i heard that and also on the radio station down in tampa they said that he got offered a deal and back out saying that it was personal problems and he was going to persue the deal with that other company.

wait - he isn't? what happened? how do you guys know this?

I am sooooooo sad. He was my favorite!

I am completely devastated!

I had to leave my house to catch the train this morning but Mario was going to be on Good Day New York (on Fox) live this morning at around 8:15 .. he was in their studios and they were going to ask him why he dropped out.

I was so peeved I had to leave and miss it .. maybe someone saw it?

He was on PLJ this morning. He said that it's a personal reason why he is leaving. They of course asked him all the questions that were posted here about the gay lover, a record deal the whole 9. He refused to answer ANY of those. He just played it like it was a hard decision blah blah blah.

His Mother didn't even know about it when Fox 5 asked her about it last night. He hadn't called her.

It's so bizare. Now I don't have a favorite anymore. Seriously he was the only that stood out for me.

They are some good singers in the group (with a big exception being Mikala)...but noone stood out like Mario did. At least that is my opinion.

I agree that Mario was one of the best in the competition, but you know what? American Idol isn't for everyone.

I saw him on Good Day NY this morning and he seemed very happy - can't knock the guy for doing what is best for himself -- just appreciate that he had the strength to make a decision and act on it in a very composed manner.

I am also very glad that Nikko gets a second chance - I was very impressed with him and didn't think he should've gone last week. I hope Anwar wins, he is pretty incredible.

I completely agree with you Felicia! Anwar is my current favorite. I also like Anthony a lot, b/c of the odds that he overcame.

I hope that's the real reason he left.
