Just booked a block of rooms for my wedding - any reviews, experiences that anyone can share? I've read some reviews where they gave up the rooms

I don't have a review but that is one of the hotels I am considering for my block and I am hoping to go check it out on Friday so I'll let you know how it looks!!

Re: Mariott Melville
Well I've already looked at the Hotel - the staff was very nice - We drove all the way from Queens to find out they had a Duane Reade Convention so all the rooms were BOOKED - they almost didn't show us until I mentioned we drove from Queens. The rooms were nice - some needs a little updating but overall it looks good! I'm just afraid about them giving away my rooms! What pricing did they give you?

Re: Mariott Melville
We did our block there and we (B&G) stayed there for two nights (night before and after).
We also did our RD there!
They were super accommodating for everything and gave us plenty of rooms to get ready -- in fact we did our whole reveal and a good bit of pro pics before the wedding at the hotel itself.
It's a fine facility, the rooms are beautiful (they gave us a suite, and we had lots of people over at one point) -- we had our 'after gathering' in the lobby area behind the elevators (which are really pretty) and brought our own alcohol and they didn't mind at all! We were up playing games pretty late there, too. The next morning we also had brunch there with everyone.
I haven't written my review yet, but I have nothing but great things to say about the Melville Marriott! Irene who helped book us was great, and the people who work there are wonderful about keeping in touch and letting you know the status of the block.
As far as the negative review you're talking about, I spoke to that girl and the hotel about it since it happened before our wedding. They had a night wedding and the rooms that were given away were ones where the people did not check in or call before the wedding. They first tried to check in after 1 am AFTER the wedding.
We had no problems like that, even with several people whose flights were severely delayed (I just told them at the front desk, and they saved the rooms without hesitation). We even had one couple book a room the night of our wedding with no prior notice, and still got the group rate!
I really loved the Marriott there and looked at a lot of hotels in the area before choosing it. I think you and your guests will be very happy.

I had a grea texperience. Deal with Ilene Mcmillien ( Not sure the spelling on the last name is right). She was a doll and everything was prefect. I stayed there for 3 nights plus I had 40 rooms blocked.

Thanks for clarifying about that bride's experience. Overall I love Marriotts - their beds are SOOO COMFY! Do you remember the rate they gave you?
