Mark Kauffman Photography

I know he has a thing where the prices differ according to what you order etc. Basically a tailor made package. My question is: What did you guys who used him end up paying for one album, 2 parents' albums, a few 8x10s etc. In other words, if one were to put together a package that was similar to the 'standard' package that everyone else has, what would it run (generally)? I know Stef said she paid 5K (she said this on a thread back in June) but I would imagine Stef had a fairly elaborate package, given how beautiful the rest of her wedding was. Can anyone help me?

Mark is not inexpensive, although he does have many different options. I am paying close to $5K. Stef and I do not really have elaborate packages. We both had/have 2 photographers- both are the highest level he offers. We both have his nicest album (cannot remember how many photos but it is around 50), I have 3 parent albums (she has only 1, I think). I didn't get the upgraded parent albums, they can pay the extra if they want it. I think there is an 11x14, some 8x10s and 5x7. Neither of us is getting the thank you card style photos. I have 20 wallets or something like that for close family and friends, but I am not giving them to every single guest.
Basically if you have a photo budget of under $3K I do not recommend meeting with Mark. While he does let you pay just for the photographer and proofs upfront and worry about the other stuff later I think a bride should stick with her budget total. Doing it the other way would give you a bill after the wedding for your album etc..

May I ask - if you're not sending pictures with the Thank You's - what kind of Thank You's are you sending? I never understood the point of sending a picture to every guest, but I'm not sure what else to do. I think 99% of the photos sent with Thank You's get thrown out any way. Who really keeps all those photos?? It seems like such a waste of money to me.

I got very nice informal cards (notecards) with Michele and Scott printed on the front. I plan to use those as my wedding thank you notes. I will send Aunts, Uncles and close friends the wallet size photos. Siblings will all get 5x7.
You can also use monogrammed notecards as thank you cards. That is what Claud2001 did.
