I've heard horror stories so I made sure I was prepared. I went to the one in Manhattan and it turns out all you need there is a valid driver's license. I brought my birth cert and passport with me, but the lady said they only need one form of ID. And the whole process took less than 10 minutes! That includes waiting on line!

i jsut went last week for my marraige license. all you need is a id card. drivers license is enough. and you need a $35 money order only!! Go early!!Good Luck,

The requirements differ depending on which office you go to-- some charge $40 others $35.... I would look into it before you go--- also some offices only give them out during certain times ...the office may be open until 5pm but they stopped issuing them at 4pm-- so again check it out beforehand
I'm from Queens and was planning on going to that one too---but I heard the one in Queens is a madhouse...I would find a quite town hall in Nassau and do it there.... I plan on going to the one on Plandome Road in Manhasset because I know its a quick process there.
