Depends on where you go. Nassau has stricter requirements than Queens and Manhattan...

Ive heard diff. things.
Ive heard that you only need ur drivers license, but Ive also heard that you need a birth certificate and photo proof..so I guess just to be safe, bring both.

to play it safe, make sure you have your ORIGINAL birth certificate with the raised seal (or a certified copy with a raised seal.) and your driver's license or passport.
i had to show my birth certificate and DL (as did DH) to get our license

If you go anywhere in the 5 boroughs of NYC you only need your drivers license. If you go in LI you need your license and birth certificate.
