Marriage license

Could someone please explain the marriage paperwork process? Once you have the marriage license, what is the process for actually 'getting married'? Just wondering!

I want to know this too. You go to the town, you get a licence you get married. You give the paper to the pastor or whoever did the ceremony , they sign and send to the state, you get a copy????????? How do you change your name if You dont have the copy yet? Can someone who has been through the process explain? Thanks!

Re: Marriage license

The day of our rehersal we gave the deacon the license...the best man and the maid of honor sign the paper and the deacon kept it until the day of the wedding. After you are married they will send it in for you. (Make sure you make a copy of the license application before you give it to anyone so you have proof for your bank etc.)

so, you can change your name with the copy?

The copy will have your intent to change your name..for changing your drivers license I think you might need the actual marriage license. The bank only needs to see intent of chaning your name. The bank was a real hassle.
