Marriage License

Where did you go for them? What forms of ID did you bring and what did they charge you?

I've called 6 different town clerk's in Suffolk and have gotten different answers on what is acceptable forms of ID...and despite what is stated as NYS law, everyone is charging more than $40. So, I'm curious.

We went to Babylon and brought birth certificates and licenses (we also brought SS cards and passports just in case, but didn't need them). It was $40, cash only.

Re: Marriage License

Thanks.

I had read that a baptismal certificate was acceptable but the clerk in Islip won't take it.

Incidentally, you don't have to go to a clerk near where you're getting married. You can go anywhere in New York State. We used the clerk in Manhattan and we're getting married at the Swan Club. As long as it's within 60 days before the wedding, you can get one anywhere in the state.

Oh, definitely. I'm only looking at places in western Suffolk, with late hours. Islip is the most convenient - till 7:30 on Tuesday's...and Huntington has hours until 7:30 - by appointment only - on Friday's.
