Marriage license?

So after you go and apply for the license what happens then? How does the officiant get it and what does he need to do with it?

Re: Marriage license?

before the ceremony begins you (or the person you assign) give the officiant the license. you guys (including witness(es) ) sign before or after the ceremony. after that the officiant takes care of the rest. you should be able to recieve your marriage certificate within 5 or so business days.

Hmmm... didn't know about the mailing part. So can I not go to the DMV and change my name until after I get the license? I was going to do that 2 days after the wedding

applications for DMV, Social Sercurity, and Passport name changes

i think the process is for you to present the dmv, bank, social security, etx representative your marriage certificate and other legal documents when changing your name to anew. i don't know if there are other ways to bypass the yellow tape before recieving your marriage certificate but this is the procedure i came to know.

Re: Marriage license?

When I got my marriage lic, I showed them my driver's lic & passport & DH showed them drivers lic & birth certificate. We took the marriage lic to the rehersal where our MOH & best man signed it. The deacon who performed our ceremony mailed it to the town of hempstead. When we got back from our HM we had our official marriage lic.
