Town/city halls are govt offices, hence they're not usually open on weekends. There may be one or two random offices that are, but they would be few and far between.
Remember you can get your license at ANY city or town hall in all of NY state, so just try and find one with hours that are convenient for you, even if you just go during your lunch, it only takes a few minutes.

I concur, they are normally only open 8-4-they may have one or 2 days that they are open a little later. Call the town clerks office where you intend on going and ask them their hours. It should only take 15 minutes/30 at the most
