Marriage License

I have no idea where to get the marriage license from?? Im getting married in babylon ..do i get it from there ??

I believe you can get it anywhere in the state. ( except the city) but im not 100% sure...

Fh and i got married in Lindenhurst but we got our license at the Town of Hempstead.

the clerk of court in massapequa is amazing. I highly recommend going there around 4pm time when it is less busy.

We did a civil ceremony before our real wedding in April of next year and they were absolutely fabulous!

But if we are getting married in a church ...do we need to get one in that town?

If you are getting married in NY state, you have to get your license anywhere in NY state. I went to the Town of Babylon at 9am on a Wednesday and was out by 9:16am!!! Bring your birth certificates, photo id's, and $40 cash...they sit you down, ask you questions, you sign it and BAM....you walk out with it!

ETA: I forgot....I'm getting married in a church too. The license is good for 60 days, and it's not good until 24 hours after it's issued.

you can get it anywhere in the state....doesn't have to be in the town unless it's most convenient for you.

Thank you!!! Yea the FH and i had no idea ..but we will get it in the town of babylon so much better when should i get it ?

you can get it in the town you are getting married in or the town you live in. I think you may even be able to get it from any town hall but im not sure.

We got ours about 3 weeks before the wedding...I didn't want it hanging around too long and that's when i was finally done with school so I was able go there at 9am.

I would say to get it a month before the wedding, but that's JMO!
