Could any past brides or very soon to be brides explain their experience getting their NY marriage license?
I have recently gotten very anxious about this because FH and I are technically now NC citizens. We still have our NY id's, but between making sure we are both there on a weekday within the alotted time frame and making sure we have the required items, I am stressing more than I should be.
At precana, our host scared us because he told us a story of a couple who were not issued their marriage license because they were from a different state, and the priest actually held the ceremony for them but they had to literally come back another day and redo the ceremony so they were actually married. Is this just an old wedding tale meant to stress already stressed brides??

That's what I thought. Please keep me posted! I kept thinking about same sex couples who travel to other states to get married, and they are able to get the license in the state where they are getting married, but this precana thing freaked me out. I think I will consider it a myth haha. Thanks for your help!

My officiant has great webpages with information on getting your marriage license: http://www.churchofancientways.org/paperwork.html and http://www.churchofancientways.org/clerks.html On there it states that if you are getting married in NY, your marriage license comes from NY. She also has a link to the New York State Department of Health information on weddings. Hope this helps!

FH and I were thinking on moving to NC after wedding. What part do you live in and how do you like it?

I think you will be fine. Did mine this week and overheard that another couple is having their marriage cert sent to chicago. Show them your NY id (just in case) and write your NC address on the back of application.

So you need 2 forms of identification FH and I brought our birth certificates and our PA drivers licences, make sure you bring original or certified documents, they won't take copies. We didn't have any issue with the out of state DL and we left in no time! The marriage license has a 24 hours waiting period and is valid for 60 days. Hope this helps, let us know how you do!

Thank you so much! Very helpful, had no idea about the birth cert.
