Someone said on the BHB that you have to wait 3 days to pick up your marriage license. Is this true. I know in NYC they give it to you right away. Also, if I get the license in LI and I am a resident a Queens does it matter? Its just for NY state right.
You get it right away. Yes it's for NY state.
You walk out with the form/license right away so you give that to your officiant at your wedding.... you can get it anywhere in the state. A few weeks after the wedding you'll get the official sealed document marriage certificate back in the mail so you can start to change your name.
Nope you get it on the spot. You both have to go and I think they only accept check and cash That is how it worked for me and yes it is for all of NY state.

Maybe the BHB poster was talking about if you mail it in, you have to wait three days after mailing it to pick it up?? You can mail it in from what I read on a few town hall sites ...

They give you the marriage license right then and there - you have a 24 hour waiting period for it to be valid in NY
no i think its easier to go in LI
