Do I just need one form of ID. Can I just have my license or do I need a passport too?

you need 2 types of id
1. photo id (DL or passport) 2. age id (orignial birth certificate or baptismal record or naturalization record)
Just got ours last Friday!

The website for Hempstead says two forms of picture ID. Didn't say Birth Certificate??

I went to the one on Queens Blvd and I only needed my driver's license.. nothing else.

yep! Huntington office when I called said:
1) driver license/ Passport AND 2) original or certified copy of Birth certificate ...etc **also if your B.C. is in another language/ from another country you need a notarized letter and translation of it... (i didn't need that but just throwing that out there for any bride who may need that information)

Just called Hempstead town hall.. (for the girls who need it).
They said DL Passport or Birth Cert.
Two from that list. If you don't have Birth certi DL and Passport is fine.

Have you tried calling? They might be able to tell you exactly what you'll need. It's weird but each place is different. On LI, you most likely need an orignal BC and DL or Passport. I went to Queens and all I needed was my DL. Maybe NYC is the same as Queens??

It really depends where you are going. We went to Brookhaven last night and had original birth certificates and driver licenses. Other couples were turned away for not having an original birth cert. or original baptismal cert. that shows where & when you were born.

The city (any of the 5 boroughs) you only need ONE form of ID. Here's the website for the NYC marriage Bureau.
even if the website says 1 id, i would bring both a photo id and birth cert just to be safe!
when we went they told us on the phone we could pay cash, check or credit card...when we got there it was cash only! good thing i brought it just it case!
