My FH just asked me why haven't we gotton our marriage license yet-we went to the Town Hall and I thought we got it-she handed us a paper that she said to give to the priest at the rehersal. I thought we were done. Am I going crazy? Is there something that they mail to you after you get the license?

Re: Marriage license question
You give that piece of paper to the priest/officiant at the rehearsal and after they marry you, the priest mails the paper to the town hall. Then a few weeks after your wedding you'll get a certificate in the mail. That's what they told us when we applied to our license.

Re: Marriage license question
That is correct - in fact I got married on April 17th and I got my license less than a week later!

Re: Marriage license question
nope, just the one you got when you went to town hall. after the wedding we got a certificate of marriage from the church and also the official marriage certificate from the town hall. the 1st was waiting for us when we got back from the honeymoon and the 2nd came in 2 weeks. the one the town hall sends you after the wedding is the one you need for all your name change stuff.

Re: Marriage license question
bring that paper to the priest and he will sign it since he does the official marrying of you. Then he sends that off and you will get your official marriage license in the mail in a few weeks.
What you have right now from the town is not the official license- more of an application. The real one will come in the mail and look like a certificate.
