If I live in Westchester county and am getting married in Suffolk County, does it matter which county I get the marriage license from?
Thanks.

Re: Marriage License Question
You have to get it in the county you live in if you are getting married in the state of NY. We live in Hicksville, so we are going to Oyster Bay.

We just got ours today in Manhattan and neither FH nor I live there.

Really? The women from Oyster Bay told us we had to get it in the county we lived in.

Re: Marriage License Question
I was told that it is a state license, not a county license and that it makes no difference where in NY you get it.

Re: Marriage License Question
You don't have to get it on the county you live in, just the state you will be married in.

Re: Marriage License Question
I got mine in Nassau County, I live in Kings county and (technically) got married in Suffolk County - so it def. does not matter what county you get it in - just that it's in NY state..

Re: Marriage License Question
It has to be in the state you are having the ceremony. I live in New Jersey and I have to get the license any place in NEW YORL, since that is the state that we are having the ceremony.
