Re: marriage license question
you get the license - but once you, your new husband, witnesses and officiant sign the license, your officiant mails that back to the state and the state will mail you your license/marriage certificate after your wedding.

Re: marriage license question
You can't go for your marriage license until less than 60 days before your wedding.
You only get a filled out application and a receipt. Your real license gets mailed to you and they told me we should receive it about 3 weeks after the officiant mails it back....

Re: marriage license question
I'm not sure if this is true for all county clerk's offices since they each have different requirements, but you can get a marriage license without showing them a passport. Some places require 2 forms of ID and some require a birth certificate, but in Manhattan, where I got my marriage license, they only require a driver's license. You get the marriage license on that day.

You're fine with a birth certificate and your license.

make sure you do not do it the day before.. My uncle ( our priest) said it takes 24 hours to validate.. My boss told me he could not get married because he went the night before..
