I'm going for my marriage license soon, in about a week. What do I have to bring with me? Do I need my birth certificate? Does FH have to be there, too?

You both have to be there with 2 forms of ID, a photo id, and a non-photo, like a drivers license and birth certificate. You also have to have an exact money order for the license. On Long Island it's 25, in NYC it's 30...

I did bring my Drivers License and birth certificate, it was enough. I did it in New Rochelle (also not NYC) it was $25.

We went for ours today up here in Westchester, we only needed to bring our drivers license and it cost $25 which you could pay with either cash, credit card or money order. It was so fast, we were in and out.

I went to HampsteadLI yesterday. Wasn't that impressed. Waited quite awhile. Then I wanted a hyphen on my marriage certificate and the worker and my FH talked me out of it. Kinda bothered me. But oh, well. The point was that if I did the hyphen now, I would need a lawyer to change it later.
