We are getting married October 17th. Is Sept 8 to early to get the license? If we want to go to a New York city bureau, what forms of ID do we need. I know for LI you need birth certificate but what about for NYC? Do you put down your name or what you want your married name to be? Thanks!

Re: Marriage License Questions!
the license is valid for 60 days. You can get it now.
I am bringing passport, license and birth certificate to whichever one we wind up going to just incase. I don't want to forget anything and then have to go back again.

Re: Marriage License Questions!
We just got ours this past Monday at the Hempstead Town Clerk. It was really easy. Just show them birth certificate (must be originals), and driver's license. You pay the $ 40 fee right there.
The clerk inputs your info (including your occupation, parents names, etc) into a computer and spits out the license. We were in and out in only 20 minutes.

Re: Marriage License Questions!
no, that's not too early!
you need your ss# and photo id (passport or license), and the print out for the completed application if you did it online.
yes, you write down what you want your last name to be if you're changing it.

Not too early at all! I don't believe you need your BC. And yes, you need to decide on your married name then.

You definitely do NOT need your BC in Queens.

No problem! Yupp license or passport will suffice. You don't even need both! And you just need to know your SS#, you don't need the card.
