OK, I know these questions get asked ALL the time on here, but I searched and can't seem to find the answers.
1) WHERE do you actually go to get the license? I know you go to a town hall or something, but which one???
We live in Malverne, can we go to our town hall?
(forgive me, I grew up in Brooklyn!)
2) How soon before the wedding should you go? I know the earliest is 60 days, we are at 57 days now. Do you walk out with the license or do they mail it to you?

Sorry, I'm not a LIer so I don't know the exact answer to #1... but I do know that if you want to go in Manhattan, the address is 1 Centre Street
2. Yes, you walk out with it the same day. You can go anytime between now and 1 full day before your wedding (you have to wait a full exact 24 hours at least in order for the license to be valid).

Re: Marriage License Questions: Where? How Soon?
Jessica,
The closet to you in Malverne would be either the Town Hall in RVC, the TOwn Hall in Long Beach or the Town of Hempstead Town Hall.
I actually went to the town of North Hempstead in PLandome juts because it was close to where I work. It doesn't matter which hall, it just has to be in NY State.
You BOTH need to be present with proper ID (i.e. license, passport or borth certificate.)
We went to the Town of Hempstead this past Tuesday around 2pm and were in and out in 20 minutes. We each had our drivers license and passports and it was $40 payable by cash or check. The license is good for 60 days. They give you the completed application that you must give your officiant at your rehearsal. Once he marrys you then he signs it and mails it back to the town and then about two wks later you will receive your offical marriage certificate.
