Once I get my marriage license can I start changing my name or I have to wait till its officiated??

I am pretty sure you have to wait for your marriage certificate which comes after the wedding officiant submits the license and all that stuff. I think...

I think I had to wait until I got the marriage certificate in the mail, which was like two weeks after the wedding

you have to wait. until it's all official i would just keep booking flights and stuff under your maiden name until your passport comes through (which will take an additional 6 weeks).

What I was told by the city clerk is that if you mail the license back it can take up to 60 days to get the certificate! But if you walk it in you get the certificate on the spot.
Now in order to change your name on any documents, health insurance changes, cell phone contracts, etc. you need a copy of the certificate.
This is for the 5 boros, I don't know what the rules out on the Island are.
