Marriage License Vent

The City Clerk's office in Brooklyn is the worst. If anyone plans to go their for their license, give yourself plenty of time - like get there when they open at 8:30am.

FH works 7 days a week, I have a 9-5. I had to leave work early and meet FH at 2:30 to get this thing yesterday. The office closes at 4pm. We were on line behind about 25 couples and did not make it to the window before 4pm. City employees stop typing at 4pm sharp.

SOooo in case you're wondering, since we both arrived together and signed the application, only one of us needs to return within 5 business days from our submission to pay and process the request. They would not finish the rest of the applications b/c they wanted to leave. Ummm... like who has the time to keep doing this?!?! It would have taken another 20 min. to finish everyone's applications. Where is the customer service?

Oh, I should add that if one of us fails to return within 5 business days, they shred our application and we have to restart the process.

Hope I can save some of you ladies a headache... start the application online and go there early..

we went at 8:30 in the city. didnt even fiill out the app online. we filled it out there.. no joke.. we had to SPRINT to the teller cuz our # was called and they were about to call another #.. they were that quick. in and out in under 10 min.

Im sorry you had this experience. I actually went to the one in Brooklyn, we went at about 11am or so... we were out in about 25 mins.... hmm I went last week, when most students were off for spring break? I dunno if that has to do with it ... although I doubt it...

I actually was a few yrs ago at their old location and altho my friends were processed fast (they were actually getting married) it was still a bit of a zoo

now that I came to do mine, I was blown away of how efficient they all became.
also I think they hired a much younger and better looking crowd LOL that time there were all pretty much grammas haha

Must be Spring Love...so many ppl were getting their license. I returned today so they wouldn't shred our application and I was out in 10 minutes. Thankfully!

So...we can legally get married now!!!

I say get it done in Nassau County!! FH & I went Monday morning, we were the only people their when they opened at 8 in the morning and was out by 8:15. It may be a far trip but, worth it. Sorry you gotta go through the BS
