A co-worker of mine was recently married, her officiant told her to get her marriage license in manhasset (I think it's the township of north hempstead?) because the queens offices are insane.

If you don't mine taking a drive I think you'll be glad you did. I've heard that at the Queens office you could be there all day. We went Upstate to one of the towns in Orange county when we were visiting family up there, and we were in and out in under 10 minutes (no line at all!) I'd suggest going somewhere in Nassau county, or someplace else outside of NYC.

you can go anywhere withing NYS....DH and I went to our court office in the BX. It took literally about 15mins. The longest part was filling out the form. BTW.....Make sure you put your new name on that license! I made a mistake and ended up paying to have my new name written on it! :( All in all, it was a fast process, depending on the day.

put your new last name only where it says....'New Surname' Best of luck to you!
