Marriage Lisence question/ church question

Marriage Lisence question/ church question

I was wondering if anyone knew how far in advance you could apply for your marriage lisence before your actual wedding date. I am asking for health insurance reasons. My fiance was on my plan and my company recently made changes and now doesnt allow domestic partners on your insurance and we are not getting married for another 11 months and I would hate for us to have to pay for the insurance outright and his company won't give him insurance until next year. So the point is I was wondering if we could either get our marriage lisence now and submit it to my company or even get married in city hall now and still get married in the church as planned. Does anyone know naything about any of this?

To my understanding is yes you can get married at city hall now so that you can add him to your insurance. However this is my understanding is that your marriage at church would be a vow renewal.
Like I said this is my understanding and I may be wrong.

Actually, it's not really a vow renewal. You are just marrying the same person again. You can get married at city hall (I did last summer & no one knows except my sister & my FH's sister) and when you go to apply for the marriage license for the church wedding, you just tell them that you're applying for another marriage license to the same person. No one has to know (even the priest). We did it for insurance reasons, and we're so glad we did.

Are you serious? Wow. I always wanted to sneak off and have a day no one but us knew about, but I thought we'd at least have to tell the priest!

Although, with our wedding so close, I don't think that will be happening now!
