Married Ladies...unexpected expense?

Married Ladies...unexpected expense?

As the wedding gets closer and closer, and we go over and over our budget I am afraid we are going to be hit with some unexpected expense.

So to my married ladies did you run into this problem, was there some expense that was last minute and not budgeted for. Also, how did you deal with this?

TIA!!!

Budget for the tips...ppl always forget that.

I really didnt run into that problem since I had a very detailed list of everything we needed for the wedding so as long as you have that you should be fine.

How much would you budget for tips about?
Is 500 too low is 1000 to high?

Re: Married Ladies...unexpected expense?

definitely tips
if you're doing OOT gift bags, budget for that
HM items (shampoo, etc.)
wrapping paper/gift bags for the BP gifts

I totally forgot about all that little stuff and for the 2 days before the wedding, was spending money like crazy. All those little things add up very quickly.

And def pack before the day before the wedding...I had to run out the day we were leaving for the hm to get an underwater camera and water shoes. have a list of all the items your going to need and make sure you have them.

Also depending on where your going tips for the hm as well.

Also postage for the invites and thank you cards can rack up as well as the thank you cards themselves can cost you $100 if they arent in your photo package.

Def tips… it's crazy how much that can be. Also things like programs… we had a set amount budgeted and then someone’s name was spelled wrong so we had to reprint them all.

I would have $1-2K in your budget just for things you never thought about or decided you want last minute.

I budgeted for all major things but ended up spending so much on all the little things.

we just had to replace FH's engine in his car meanwhile we planned on buying him a new car right after the wedding. Put a major damper on things!

I did not run into this problem. I had the tips all sorted into envelopes in advance, and I had an extra $500 for tips, and an extra $500 for guests that showed up to the reception but had not RSVP'd (or people I intentionally didn't count when I gave the hall the final headcount). In the end, I gave my DOC extra $$, and paid for 1 extra guest at the reception. My headcount wound up being practically dead on as I had one couple call the morning of and say they couldn't make it, and a couple I didn't expect to show actually arrive in time to eat dinner and then leave, and one guest (the one I paid for at the reception) that contacted me on Friday night for my Sunday wedding asking if he could still come.

No last minute expense but the one thing I wish I spent some extra $$$ on was a coordinator for the day. I planned the whole wedding myself but would have loved to have a helping hand on the big day.

Our transmission died. Transmission on a 7 year old car! Come on! To fix it would have been around $2K so we said fluck it and just used that money plus the money we got for the Honda (which we never mentioned had transmission problems ... ) and put it toward a down payment on a new car. But still!

Re: Married Ladies...unexpected expense?

tips, definitely!
I budgeted for them but wish I had allocated more.

Also, factor in your pre wedding pampering- facials/ mani pedi's/ waxing/ hi lite retouching ect.
