Married Lady Signing On!

WE DID IT!

Saturday was the most special day of my life. I am leaving for Aruba Monday AM, so a quick post w. some speedy reviews...

Oheka was the most spectacular mansion that evening, filled with candles, bubbling glasses and lit fireplaces. Everybody came incredibly formal and there were skirts of chiffon brushing the floors and tuxedos on parade!

Jim Lowe was fantastic on piano. He sang - which we hadn't wanted - but he was wonderful! No problems w. him at all. He played thru the cocktail hour, everything from Elton John to Gershwin. Not too loud, very casual. Nice guy.

Wendy Blanc on harp - I barely even heard her! But for the second I was in that area, she was amazing.

Fleurs de Florissima could NOT have done a better job. It was as if she crawled in my mind's eye and took notes! The flowers were simply tremendous - TREMENDOUS! EVERY single thing I wanted was there - and PERFECT. They were a sight to behold. - they truly were.

Oheka Castle was expensive....and the best decision we have EVER made. My guests were catered to as if they were movie stars. They hand delivered the placecards, gave champagne as people arrived, had every fireplace going, served everybody at the same time . My Uncles leg acted up so he went upstairs...they brought him dinner and champagne, coffee and set him up with some video rentals! My bridal asst. carried my veil, my flowers, my bag - bustled my skirt, took me to the bathroom - literally was to my left and behind me every second. I cannot say enough about the sheer glory of this very special place. My day went off without a hitch - because of them.

JACK ROMAN I LOVE YOU - PLEASE USE JACK EVERY ONE OF YOU. Not only is he a genius - but he helped me into my dress, reached all the things hung on high hangers, held my train, got me champagne in the room - I cannot tell you. He had Roy with him doing color shots - LOVED him - patience of a saint with me. I was not on my best behavior w. him because I was too impatient - and he just kept smiling ! Jack was like he was not even there he was so unobtrusive. I think he should be a spy. He was DYNAMITE - I cannot wait to see my proofs...

Starlight Limos were AMAZING. Beautiful cars, wonderful drivers, got everybody there in no time flat - AND upgraded me to a Mercedes limo that I had w. me all day!

Spin Around Sound - Tom was great when we first met. The second time I felt he wasn't paying attention to us. He was instant messaging somebody and just seemed distracted. I wasn't crazy about that and I know he is very busy, but... We were a little late on getting him some things and there were a lot of missed calls, messages, etc. It was mostly our doing, but as the brideand groom, you are really frazzled those last days and like to feel like all is good. HOWEVER, They set up great - on time, etc. - they stuck very close to the don't play, but missed some 'do plays'. A very important 'Maybe I'm Amazed'. I didn't like that most of the songs asked to hear were done in a 're-mix' way. I didn't think to know or ask about that. I wanted authentic versions of things. Everything sounded a bit 'techno - hip ' for me. He also talked a LOT more than I wanted. Calling people out to dance - I don't know...And finally he used lights! That was in my contract - NO LIGHT SHOW STUFF. There were lights. My FI (oops... husband! ) told me to leave it alone because everybody was enjoying themselves - and they were ALL dancing - but I felt that it took away from the sophisticated space. I must admit I was deeply bothered by it and had a hard time letting go of it! My husband says I am nuts - overthinking, etc. The upside is everyone would think I am nuts - the place was dancing like crazy - I just didn't like it all that much. And I wanted to give an honest review! He is a sweetheart though. I just think he needs a better system of managing what the couple wants , contract, etc. Maybe a secretary!

I am sure I am missing things...St. Patricks Cathedral was a dream come true. There were people lining 5th Ave and when we walked out there was this huge applause! AMAZING

Quick advice..don't drink so you can stay present. I had just champagne and I remember it all - and it did NOT fly by! I was 'there' the whole time. Be by your husband's side always. Dance and kiss..., GO TO YOUR COCKTAIL HOUR! It didn't take away from the introduction AT ALL! RELAX, smile and just enjoy being w. your dear husband!

Well that is all from a married lady...I will be back soon and now have to check in on the 'other side' board as well!!!!! Thank you all for endless hours of support, advice and venting moments!

Sounds wonderful!

Dont worry to much about being bothered by your 'less than perfect' vendors...I am still bothered by the mistakes my florist made. I think its natural to be angry since we spend so much time and money specifing certain things and then are preference are disregarded. But as you already know - the key is that is all went well and you enjoyed yourself along with your guests!

Cant wait to see your photos!

Re: Married Lady Signing On!

I second what sonicstef said. There is always something that will be less than you wanted. We had problems with the play list with our band and other major issues with them that bothered me terribly. I did the best I could with my planning. That is all we could do. In the end, I had a wonderful day!
