Married Name
Re: Married Name
Well my FI is very stubborn when it comes to this topic. I want to make my maiden name my middle name no hypen and take his last name. We will be Mr & Mrs. X but he thinks I am trying to go all liberal and it would be Mr. x and Mrs. XX--he is crazy--he thinks our children will get confused and all but I am really strong about this and he is really strong about his side--he thinks it is an insult not to take his last name b/c his mom took his dads last name and THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS!! If only he would see that changing my name all of a sudden after 26 years is a big deal its not like he has to change his name--god forbid it is going to take some getting use to but eventually I think I wouldn't use my maiden name as my middle name and just his last name but I can't just jump into it--i feel like i will lose my identity. Anyway sorry for the vent.

I will be taking FH's name.

Re: Married Name
I'm making my maiden name my middle name, since I dont have one this works out perfectly, and am going to take my FH's name as my last name. I like his last name better than mine anyway, I have a last name that always gets butchered, mispronounced, misspelled, and his is so much easier!

Re: Married Name
I kept my name for a variety of reasons. I think DH was a little hurt at first but when I asked him if he would be willing to hyphenate or change his name, he said absolutely not!! So I countered with, 'then why would you think it would be so easy for me to do that?' If we have kids, I am fine with them taking his last name, I just wanted to keep my own. I think kids get used to whatever they learn, so I am not really that worried about it. Frankly, I find that other people have had much more of a problem with it than my husband....
