marrying a firefighter - photo op

marrying a firefighter - photo op

Has anyone attended a wedding with the fire department drill team on the stairs as the bride and groom exited the church? They stand on the stairs to create an arch with tools (similar to a military arch with swords)...and the couple walk under...

We are having that and we also having an old pumper truck parked in front of the church. I'm so excited to see all of this. My 'problem'...we are having a photojournalistic approach to our wedding pictures and I'm affraid there won't be a 'reason' for us to be in front of the truck...to purposely include the truck in pictures, in a sense...

I didnt know so many of us were hitching up to NY's Bravest!!! Michelle, Glory, where are your fiance's posted? where is their truck/engine company located? Maybe they know each other. Mine is in the South Bronx. Glory - I never heard of this with the drill team. Can you email me too with info at [email protected]

I am registered at both places and was also dissapointed in JCP. I thought that I would get the scanner just like in Target. I didnt have a problem because I didnt have an appointment.I only registered at JPC for a few things. Most of the other stuff I did with Target.

Perhaps it's just a Long Island (volunteer) thing...dunno!

I've seen it in passing the church, and my fiance has already set it up for us. They have an engine parked in front of the church that leads the limo...complete with sirens and lights on.

I asked my fiance and he thought it sounded like a volunteer program thing. I was disappointed :o( sounds like it will be really nice. I'm sure like Mark said in his posting that there will be plenty of opportunities to get candid shots. The arch sounds like it will be an awesome set up for some photojournalistic pics. And it's nice that he can have 'his show' too with so much of the wedding focused on us the brides :) enjoy. Please post pics after the wedding for us!

I have some comments on registering at Macy's in Roosevelt Field, but I'm not sure if that's the particular store you're wondering about. We did have some problems registering there.

I will certainly post a picture...only a few more months :-)

What about the bagpipers playing outside as you exit the church??? Does your company have that??? That sounds so nice, too!!!

Elizabeth,

Want to surprise your husband at the reception??? Perhaps you can have all your groomsmen wear those plactic firemen's hats and hold plastic 'tools' to create an arch with the bridesmaids and their bouquets...as you are announced into the room...and you two could go under it. Is this too silly? If not, have the bridesmaids wear them too!!! How cute??? I think there like 99 cents at Party City...

Glory-
I like the bagpipers well enough but he doesn't so it's not a big deal to me. Can you imagine - an Irish firefighter getting married on St Patrick's Day doesnt like bagpipers!?!!
