Re: maryland??
Rockville is another option. Silver Spring has pockets....so depending on what you are comfortable with, it might be ok, might not.
Are you trying to move down? If you are, definitely take into consideration where you work. Traffic is definitely a nightmare and if you have to hop on the beltway, it's no picnic.
FM if you'd like more info. I've been living in the DC area for about the last five years now, so might be able to shed some light on any other questions you have.

i agree with rockville, chevy chase, and bethesda. also northern silver spring and olney are nice. if you are planning on working in dc gaithersburg and germantown are probably too far. i have to say though it's pretty much just as expensive down there as it is on long island. i lived in the dc area for three years so you can fm me if you want!

My closesest friend from college lives in Gaithersburg. It is really nice. They have developments popping all over the place. Also it is where all the young couples are moving too from what my friend says and she grew up in Rockville.

One of my best friends was from that area and went to Montgomery-Blair High School (an excellent magnet school, ranked nationally as one of the best high schools). It's a great area, though congested IMO.

Re: maryland??
HI Ya! I actually live in Montgomery County, in MD. I am actually residing in Gaithersburg, MD. Please feel free to Fm me with any questions at all. I am also a teacher here so I kow all of the schools really well. There are sections that are great and others that are ok...very similar to LI. I really love it here. I moved here after meeting my now husband at University of Maryland during college. Again, feel free to ask me anything.

Re: maryland??
thanks ladies for all the info. Our plans are still up in the air. Fh has a few job offers in the area. Just wanted some input on towns. We know that the cost of living and home prices are pretty comparable to that of the island. Once we know more info about the jobs and whether or not we are moving I will FM all you ladies. Thanks again.
For all you ladies that live on the area or know people who live there, how is the job market for teachers? preferably preschool special ed
