MASTECTOMY LEGISLATION

MASTECTOMY LEGISLATION

Important info for all women. This is a time when our voices and choices
should be heard.
This takes about 30 seconds to vote on this issue.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act
which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum
48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy.
It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where
women are forced to go home hours after surgery against the
wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and
sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition
drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on.

PLEASE!!!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below and help
women with breast cancer get the care they need and deserve!! There is
no cost or monetary pledge involved. You need not give more than your
name and zip code number.

It's Easy only have to give name and zip code.

Re: MASTECTOMY LEGISLATION

Thanks! My mom just had her mastectomy earlier this year. Luckily, her insurance company covered up to 1 weeks stay in the hospital, to monitor for infection (She also had the reconstruction done the same day.) The woman in the bed next to her, however, was checked out the next morning....she still hadn't come completely out of the anethesia yet & they had her dresses & out the door. It was dispicable.

1 in 9 on Long Island has been pushing for reforms as well, I am glad to see lifetime (which is based in NY) is helping the cause too.

I signed. So often women are left behind by insurance companies, medical technology and research. It's aweful. And, with the current political climate/leaders we are being left even further behind.
