Okay, since it seems like it's getting colder quicker this year... I am having problems on the coat/jacket front. I love fitted coats and that seems to be the only type that I have... Since I don't have a nice warm coat for this winter, I'm searching for one. I really would hate to buy a maternity coat, but what other options do we have? I wish I could borrow DH's but he's a foot taller than me... and that would just look silly...
Any suggestions?

Re: Maternity coats/jackets
I'm in the same boat... I haven't had a coat for 3 years, never wanted one, but now that I'm PG I feel that if I don't have one, I'm freezing the baby. But I agree, I don't want to buy a Maternity coat either, I can wear my DH, but he's more than a foot taller than me, so his coat is really long too. Do you have any friends you can borrow one from?

Re: Maternity coats/jackets
I am in the same boat but since my baby is due end of November I refuse the buy a maternity coat for only 4 weeks or so. But if I had to go thru the entire winter I would get a real maternity coat. You are going to need it. Look on eBay for one. They have tons of dealers who sell, new w/tags on. I got my maternity bathing suit on eBay for $25 less than I saw it in the catalogs.

Re: Maternity coats/jackets
Winter's here stink! We have already had snow this year...
I tried on a maternity jacket at Old Navy and apparently my arms are really fat, because the jackets/coats didn't fit. I am not sure what I am going to do., but EBAY is an excellent suggestion!!!
Thanks for those links... but those coats just don't seem warm to me... I get cold so easily. I still can't see paying like $150 for something that I'm only going to get use out of for one season... guess I'm going to have to...

I need a coat. I am really dreading buying one for such a short period of time. I am thinking about borrowing a coat from one of my aunts

I am thinking of getting a knit poncho, one you pull over your head, and just wearing that with a warm sweater or sweater jacker.

Re: Maternity coats/jackets
I hate coats as it is. I will wear the least clothing possible in the winter time. I just hate that 'snowman' feeling, and I cant imagine being preggo and wearing a coat on top of that. My sister, cousin, and friend were all preggo in the winters (jan, feb babies) and simply used hubby's fleeces, and a good hat, gloves and scarf and worked out fine. I have yet to find something 'better' than a fleece. Lightweight but warm as EVER! and dont forget all the extra weight that is keeping you warm! I brought a coat out with me yesterday and just put it in the back seat I HATE being bundled up and tied down, and then driving that way Girls, try not to fall for the marketing game out there.. you really dont need to buy 'maternity' everything..

Re: Maternity coats/jackets
Since I'm due 11/11, I couldn't be bothered buying my own, so I borrowed my friend's maternity coat. It's a cute wool pea coat from The Gap.
I am always about 20 degrees warmer than everyone else lately so I haven't worn it yet, but it makes me happy to know I have it, just in case.

Re: Maternity coats/jackets
I'm with Anna on this one - I hate wearing coats... I never drive with one on and I refuse to wear on while shopping anywhere because I am always 200 degrees!
However, depending on how long it takes me to show, I might have to get a coat for this winter. I will definitely look on ebay, because saving $$ is very important to me. I have 3 GF's who are lending me all thier maternity clothes, so I hope I am set in the clothing aspect.

No coat yet, but I'll probably end up with one. I'm ALWAYS cold and I couldn't even button two jackets I was wearing this time last year. I'm always on Ebay.
You can't even imagine how much I've already spent on clothing, and I'm only 10 weeks in! Luckily DH knew I'd be this way so I'm getting very little resistance.
