mattresses

Hi,

For the past couple of months my husband and I have been having problems with our mattress - it's a cheap hand-me down. Between me and my husband one of us is up at least half the night.... we move to the couch and then fall asleep right away. When both of us are up there's a problem, who get's the couch!

We have a king size bed and are looking for some cheap alternative to make it better - maybe some type of pad or something??

I'd love a sleep number bed, but we don't have 2K to lay out for one when we are saving downpayment money!

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

TIA, I've been up since 3.

Re: mattresses

hi there

DH and I are in the same boat, but our bed is only a Full and it's at least 10 years old now!! It's in really bad shape now and we wake up every moring with back aches, stiff necks, and never really get a good nights sleep. Last year we got one of those padded mattress covers, and that seemed to help a little bit, so maybe you could try that? They run anywhere from 50 - 200, depending on the size you need, but it's much cheaper than a new mattress! We got ours at Fortunoff (it was on our registry) but pretty much any store with a Bedding section will sell them. Hope that helps!

We're actually going to send our bed ito retirement this year, and we're going to use our tax return to get a new bed set

If the mattress is sagging try getting a couple of boards of plywood and put them between the mattress and box spring.

Re: mattresses

We bought a new mattress after having such issues not sleeping with the old one. It was on sale at either Sears or JCPenney, and was under $1000, a Sealy, and SO comfortable. I would spring for a new one--feather bed toppers only help so much.

Re: mattresses

I have a serta perfect sleeper pillowtop. I love it. I got it at sleepies during a sale. This weekend is a great time for sales. I think I only paid about $680 for everything - split box spring, frame, mattress - the salesman said the bed was originally priced at $1200, but who knows if thats true or not. It is a queen size. You can definitely get a good deal if you shop around.

Good luck!
