Mattresses - Tempurpedic or Pillowtop??? - UPDATE - WE ORDERED ONE!

Which do you own and what do you like/not like about it?

(Tempurpedic brand mattress vs. pillowtop mattress)

We need to get ours and I initially wanted a Tempurpedic but I also like the plush pillowtop mattresses so I don't know.

UPDATE: so we went yesterday and were really stuck between a Simmons Beauty Rest pillowtop WITH memory foam or the Tempurpedic. We liked them both so much but they feel TOTALLY different. We ended up ordering the Simmons! It has individual coils so we don't feel motion transfer - huge deal for us because we have different work schedules - and it was firm enough without being too hard so we have the support, but since it also has the memory foam, it's super comfy.

The Simmons was just as expensive than the Temperpedic but they were able to throw in a few things with it whereas with the Temperpedic they would not have been able to. We didn't know about this until after we started our order, but it was good to know! We're crazy though, and we told them we're going to come back to compare the two beds again - they said we could actually still switch to the Temperpedic without a problem so long as it's before the delivery date.

But yay, we ordered our mattress!!

I like the pillow top.......but I guess it depends on the firmness that you two like........

Just be careful with some pillowtops it make it really hard to find sheet (and a comforter) to fit, if it is too wide if a mattress.......

we personally prefer tempurpedic. Sometimes I find the pillowtops are too soft.

We have a tempurpedic topper on our existing mattress and love it!

we like soft mattresses...

all depends how soft/firm you want the bed...

definitely try the Simmons Beauty Rest Pillowtops -- they are incredible!! They have individual coils in them so you don't feel movement -- my FH cold be jumping up and down on the ther side of bed and you literally don't feel the movement -- get good sleep
Our mattress is firm -- but a little softer cause of the pillow top.

FH's grandfather purchased our mattress as my shower gift (since unfortunately, FH's grandmother passed away 2 months ago)

He purchased a tempurpedic mattress and while we haven't slept on it yet, it seems very nice. I also registered for a nice mattress pad to keep it in good shape.

i liek teh pillow top
i use tempurpedic pillows but i dont like teh whole mattress like that - i feel like im encased is something, but if you suffer from back problems pillow tops are good but tempurpedic is the best

We have a semi firm pillow top and its very comfy.
The sheets are easy to find, but a standard comfortor usually, wont go down the sides, so you need to buy a king for a queen..
That is, if the mattress is like 15' thick or so..
sometimes you can find comfortors that say : fits pillow to to 'x' amt of inches...

My BF had a temperpedic and although he said it was very comfy , he said it really retains your body heat so its hot.

We have a pillowtop mattress and I it! Whenever we go away and stay in a hotel, we can't wait to get home and sleep in our own bed.

BUT I do have to say that FH bought me a Tempurpedic pillow for Chanukah last year, and it has SOLVED all my stiff neck problems!!! I haven't had a bad neck 1 day since!!

The Tempurpedic pillow took some time to get used to, because its hard and soft all at the same time.

I suggest going to try them both out in the stores, and see which feels more comfy to you & your FH.

(dunno if that falls into one of your categories, but def check it out! love memory foam!!)

oh and make sure (i know this sounds wierd but its true) to check out the mattress smell when you purchase it. my officemate said she purchased her mattress from like sleepy's or one of those big places and they delivered her mattress directly from the warehouse, but since it was like brand spankin new, it still smelled like a factory. ended up being a huge ordeal (headaches, they wouldn't take it back cause there technically wasn't anything wrong with it, yada yada)

just thought i'd pass it along!!

I have never slept in a Tempurpedic so I can't review them, but I have a Kingsdown pillowtop mattress and it is sooo comfy! I highly recommend it!

We too bought the Kingsdown pillowtop mattress! OMG I LOVE it! Sooo comfy and cozy! and it looks so pretty when the bed is all made up!
Worth the investment!!

I love my tempurpedic. After I got it (I still lived home) my brother and parents both got it. We all love it. then we got the tempurpedic pillows and they are heavenly. I dont know much about the pillowtop, but I would die without my tempurpedic.
