Has anyone stayed at any of these hotels in Maui: Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa Fairmont Kealani Hyatt Regency Any feedback would be appreciated. FH and I are trying to make a decision. Thanks!

Re: Maui
We just got back from Hawaii last week, and spent the middle 6 nights of our honeymoon at the Grand Wailea but wish that we didn't. This was the least favorite hotel we stayed at (and unfortunately the one we were looking forward to the most). Yes, the grounds are beautiful, and the pool is amazing when it's open (all of the slides including the smaller ones were only open from 10am-5pm and the pool closes at 10pm-the Hyatt on Kauai was open 24 hrs, also for most of our time there they had a good portion of the pool closed to repair the path AROUND the outside of the pool)but the whole thing just felt overdone. The service was nothing special, and the beds were the most uncomfortable we slept in our entire honeymoon. The place nickel and dimes you for EVERYTHING, and were unaccomodating when we wanted to switch rooms b/c they placed us, a couple on our honeymoon, right near the elevators so we had the pleasure of hearing kids screaming every morning.
The one very positive thing is the Spa. It is the only thing that is worth it. But since this place is the most expensive hotel on Maui, I would just stay someplace else and if you're interested in using the spa pay the $30 upcharge for non-hotel guests.
Oh, and we were there in their off season (October) and there were a TON of kids. If you're going in the summer I would expect the place to be overrun with them.
We ate dinner at the Fairmont two different times, and from what we saw of it, the service far exceeds the service in the Grand Wailea.
Sorry this is so long but we truely felt ripped off by this place so I don't want anyone else to feel this way.
FM if you have any more questions.

I'm sorry you had that experience with Grand Wailea. Mine was completely the opposite..we felt we were in heaven the entire time. They took care of us every time we turned around and there wasn't one hidden expense for anything..free refrigerator in our room, upgrade to gorgeous suite in Napua Tower, you name it. I wish I were back...
Just wanted to relay a point of view from someone who loved the Grand Wailea. I can't wait to go back someday. And we did visit the fairmont and others and didn't get the same feel..although the restaurants at Fairmont are awesome!! Nicks Fishmarket was the best.
I posted a honeymoon review/pics if you do a search...good luck!!
edited to add: they were hardly any children when we stayed 9/25-10/3.

Re: Maui
We stayed next door to the Grand Wailea (we were at the Four Seasons.) we walked by the Grand Wailea. The pools did look nice, but we did see lots of kids there. It was very noisy. I highly recommend the Four Seasons.
