I am getting tired of planning/worrying about wedding stuff so I am focusing on the honeymoon.
We are going to Maui for 10 nights, staying at the Westin. For those of you who have been there, did you book excursions beforehand? I am looking into what activiites we want to do but im not sure if i should wait until we're there to book.
thanks

Re: Maui
-- drive the road to hana ... it's a long winding road (with narrow lanes) ... but you stop on the way and there are great views. Rent a convertible and drive it yourself ... or book a tour.
-- a luau is a must ... we did the Feast at Lele and loved it.

Re: Maui
i booked everything when i got there you can speak with the concierge and they can take care of you def have an idea of what you want to do but i wouldnt stress about booking so far in advance...you never know what the weather is like
oh and i attempted the road to hana...my dad got sick while driving so we turned around. if you get the slightest bit of motion sickness do not attempt it!

Re: Maui
we booked in advance but i'm not entirely sure it's necessary
only reason we did was because we did a cruise and only had a limited amount of time in maui (one night, to be exact) ... we wanted to play it safe.
i'm also a bit of a freak and need to have a detailed itinerary of what to do and when
there's another luau in maui (old lahaina) which is supposedly good ... they're both good for diff reasons though so you'll have to figure out what you prefer before booking. Feast at Lele is more expensive but you get to sit alone. It's much more romantic. Old Lahaina is cheaper and more traditional but it's buffet style and the food isn't as good from what i heard. Also, you have to sit with a bunch of other people at your table.
i have a few pics of the luau in my album: click me

Re: Maui
Thanks for the tips. AwaitingAugust, the pics are so nice, now i want to be in Maui this second. The luau looks great and i'd definitely prefer sitting alone, with my luck we'd get stuck sitting next to someone annoying. hehe

If you are going to rent a car from the airport, book ahead of time - be sure to compare rates AND join their frequent rental club. Most of the times the lines for pickup are alot shorter.
As for the Road to Hana, it is a definite excursion. We rented a car and did the complete road - at the end of the road, some of the road was very bumpy and full of potholes. We later found out that our insurance would not have covered the car if something happened on the Road to Hana. Take the end of this journey very slow.
We did not take the rental insurance since our policy covers rental cars also. Check your policy to see if you are covered - this will save you a bundle.
