Hi, just wondering if anyone out there has gone to either or both of these islands? We're going to go to Hawaii, but we're just not sure which of these two islands we would like to go to. Any info. would be helpful! Thank you!

Re: Maui or Kuai?
Haven't been to either, but we decided on Maui and the big island over Maui and Kauai. Maui's supposed to have a lot more to do from what I hear, while Kauai's more natural and relaxing (as is the big island, which is also supposed to have an amazing volcano, but we only had time for two islands and definitely wanted to do Maui). Maui also has the Road to Hana, which I've heard lots of good things about. Hope that helps.

there is more to do in maui.....kauai is more relaxing........both are beautiful........it depends on what you want to do--relax more or explore more!....there is stuff to see and do on both islands --just more to do on maui ( i actually liked maui better b/c i love to do different things while i am on vacation --i am not one to sit by the pool/beach all day long!)

Re: Maui or Kuai?
We loved, loved, loved Kauai. We island hopped on our honeymoon and this blew away all of the other islands.
And there is a ton to do on Kauai. (Just get the book Kauai Revealed and you will never run out of things to do or see). It was the most beautiful island with a ton of things to explore. We were really dissappointed in Maui, it felt like Florida and was lacking in the culture and all things that make Hawaii unique. (Except the Road to Hana, which reminded me of driving on Kauai).
That being said, if you're into partying and stuff then I would skip Kauai b/c it's a really quiet place and everything closes early, but if you're looking for beauty, culture, relaxation and a ton of exploring then Kauai is your place. And if you can swing the cost, stay at the Grand Hyatt on Kauai, this place is AMAZING. (see the pool in the last picture)
We went to both islands. We preferred Maui. I think we might have liked Kauai better if we had gone there first. It is much more quiet and it's a good place to go first so you can relax. It was still beautiful, but we were already relaxed. Maui was very commercial near the airport, but we stayed in Wailea and it was beautiful.
