and he sleeps so much and stares into space a lot. I can't believe he's getting old so quickly ...

Max was guesstimated to be 9 yrs old when we got him ... he just seems to be *getting old* all of the sudden

Gizmo is starting to show his age at times also. Sometimes he runs up the stairs but other times he goes one step at a time. he is going to be 13 years old in Feb. How old is Max?

As I kid I had a dog that lived to 18 y.o. Near the end he was deaf, blind and had 'doggie dementia', for which the vet had a checklist for dx. He would stand with his face inches from a wall for long periods of time, get lost and we wouldn't be able to call him or have him see us, etc. Near the end he was so out of it that he even bit me.
